What is IDRIS?

IDRIS is an exciting new research Institute, based at the University of Dundee.

IDRIS was launched on December 6th 2006 and its Director is Professor Jennifer Harris, Chair of Social Science in the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education. 

Community Partners involved in the research programmes include Access Equality, UK Disability Studies Association Sense Scotland, Capability Scotland, Ownership Options, the Salvation Army and Dundee Cyrenians.

IDRIS is part of a growing network of research centres focussing upon disability studies. Key partners are the Centre for Disability Studies at the University of Leeds, and the newly established Centre for Disability Research at Lancaster University.

IDRIS receives research funding from the UK Department of Health and the Economic and Social Research Council.
